Originally, a stagecoach stop called Bradford Junction between Denver and the South Park Basin gold fields. Bradford Junction became known as Conifer Junction, and, by the 1930s, as Conifer. Indian Hills Colorado Real Estate
The population in Indian Hills is about 1500 people, and there are about 500 housing units, all single-family, no condos or townhomes, and growing, especially larger more upscale homes. Occasionally you will find a rustic cabin in the area for sale under $200K – usually on a small lot but you could be surprised to get a few acres even in the low-price range, but the average home price is around $450K. On the high end of the market you can drop a few million dollars and find yourself in a mimi mansion with acreage enough to keep some horses.
The wooded hills on which the community of Indian Hills, Colorado now stands were once the summer campground of the Ute, Arapahoe, and Cheyenne Indians, before being taken over by the U.S. Federal Government in March of 1880.
In 1918, Denver mortuary owner George Olinger saw the potential of the area as a site for summer cabins for wealthy Denverites, and began purchasing land. The land was divided into small lots of 50 by 100 feet and each lot had a cabin constructed from timber taken from the nearby hills. The Olinger family lodge, Bona Vista, was also built on the ridge overlooking Parmalee Gulch and Turkey Creek.
In 1926 the residents established the Indian Hills Improvement Association to take responsibility for police, fire, and health services. The Community Center was established in the 1950s in a converted one-room schoolhouse. By the 1960s, Parmalee Gulch Road had been paved, making it only one of two paved roads in Indian Hills. Many of the original owners of the old summer cabins winterized their cabins and now live in Indian Hills year-round.
For all its quiet mountain seclusion and rural character, Indian Hills is only a half hour from downtown Denver with its shopping, dining, sporting events, museums, and cultural venues. The renowned Red Rocks Amphitheater is only fifteen minutes away. Red Rocks Park, Mount Falcon Park, Meyers Ranch Park and other Denver Mountain Parks are just minutes away with an abundance of hiking and biking trails offering nature lovers plenty of chances to observe birds, wildlife, and flowers.
Ken Caryl Ranch Colorado Real Estate
The original Ken Caryl Ranch was established in 1914, when Colorado newspaperman John Shaffer paid $100,000 for the 3,000 acre Northern View Estate southwest of Denver. On the property, now named after his sons Kent and Carroll, he built what he called "a summer home." His 8000-square foot Manor House had twenty rooms and panoramic views of the surrounding valley and sandstone formations. This home is still in use today as the Manor House Restaurant.

The Bradford Park facility also has an outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, a volleyball court, picnic area, and hiking trails. The park has both a softball diamond and soccer fields.
The Ken Caryl Equestrian Center has two outdoor rings and an indoor arena, and access to twenty-five miles of trails. Boarding, riding lessons, and a day camp are available. In addition to all these amenities, Ken Caryl is just seventeen miles from downtown Denver and a multitude of entertainment and cultural activities hosted there. The Denver city lights are even visible from the ranch’s Dakota Ridge at night.
Ken Caryl is a self-contained community. Its 300-acre Business Center has a post office, banks, restaurants, small retailers and major grocery stores. Over 1.5 million square feet of commercial property have been developed in the Business Center, along with a gated residential community which borders on the Deer Creek Golf Course. In 1872, railroad owner John D. Perry purchased several homesteads at “Pleasant Park” near Larkspur with the intention of building a ranch. Sixteen years later, Perry founded the Red Stone Town Land and Mining Company to begin construction of a resort at what he had come to call “Perry Park.” Over the following 100 years, Larkspur remained a small foothill ranching community, with a current population of under four hundred. But in 1967, Perry Park was sold to the Colorado Western Development Company, which opened the Perry Park Country Club in 1971, and has continued to develop the property with single family residences and medium-sized horse properties.

Morrison, a Colorado country town with a population currently numbering less than five hundred, is, surprisingly, less than twenty minutes from the outskirts of Denver. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, many prominent Denverites maintained summer homes along Bear Creek including the storied Molly Brown.
